AKC Farm Dog Certification
Your dog responds well to commands at home and in public, but how would he respond in a farm environment? There’s an easy way to find out. Sign him up for a Farm Dog Certified test!
This test involves your dog performing a series of 12 exercises that are typical for a farm environment such as being in close proximity to livestock (who are always penned to avoid any altercations), jumping and staying on hay/straw bales, walking on unusual terrain, and jumping over logs. There is no herding involved. The goal is to assess his aptitude as a working farm dog by exhibiting self-control, confidence and trust with you or his handler.
Eligibility: This test is open to all breeds. Your dog must be at least 9 months of age and have an AKC number via one of the following: AKC Registration #, Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL), AKC Canine Partners #, Foundation Stock Service (FSS) #.

AKC Fetch Test
Earning AKC Fetch titles provides opportunities for both physical and mental exercise. While some dogs are natural retrievers, AKC Fetch, especially at the advanced levels, will involve teaching new skills such as retrieving.
AKC Fetch is a pass-fail noncompetitive test. The four levels of titles (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Retriever) assess the ability of the dog to retrieve. SCA 2024 is offering Novice and Intermediate testing.
- In Novice, dogs earn the FTN (Fetch Novice) title. Novice dogs must retrieve a tennis ball (or equivalent), retrieving bumper (also called a dummy), or a toy that has been thrown 30 ft. The Novice course has 4 distractions. The dog goes between these to retrieve the ball. In Novice, the dog can see where the ball has been thrown.
- In Intermediate, dogs earn the FTI (Fetch Intermediate) title. Intermediate dogs must retrieve a tennis ball (or equivalent), bumper, or toy that has been thrown 50 ft. The Intermediate course has 8 distractions. The dog must go between these to retrieve the ball. The dog can see where the ball has been thrown.
Eligibility: This test is open to all breeds. Your dog must be at least 6 months of age and have an AKC number via one of the following: AKC Registration #, Purebred Alternative Listing (PAL), AKC Canine Partners #.
